Another EDM wave form post Well, at work we have a pair of semi-manual Ram EDM machines. The old CHMER seems to cut very poorly, so I wanted to see what the difference was. Here are a few images from the oscilloscope. A wider view of the older CHMER EDM wave form. You can see it is much like the previous wave form of the newer CHMER EDM Standard CHMER EDM cutting. This is the old beast thats like almost 20 years old. A fine graph of the Creator EDM wave form. Off time seems to be defined a little differently than the CHMER The Creator EDM with the Zapper function turned on. It looks at though it supplies a high voltage spike for cutting carbide or harder materials. The Creaotr EDM at 50V without the zapper function on. I can assume that since the power appears clear that something is very different. The Creator EDM while cutting a standard cut. 10A, 200us on and 100us off. You can see the power is much cleaner than the CHMER and the method of cutting seems to be different.
